Thomas Quirk, the Catherine Paine Middlebush Professor of English at the University of Missouri, will speak on "Is Huckleberry Finn 'Politically Correct?'" Professor Quirk is this Summer's scholar-in-residence at the Center. He is the author of books, articles, and reviews in the fields of American literature and culture and will chair the panel on "Critical Approaches to Mark Twain" at the Center's conference next summer on "The State of Mark Twain Studies."
